White's centre QP removed Black's counter KP on K5(e5) - the almost invariable response, inviting a pawn exchange (his QBP being still left en prise).
Black pushes his own Queen's Pawn onward to Q5(d4), contesting QB6+K6(c3+e3) so as to harass White's development for the cost of the pawn.
