White's Queen to QR4(a4) targets the QRP and pins Black's QKt to its king to deter 7..KtxP, 8.KtxKt..QxKt.
Black castles long (ie. Q-side), breaking the pin on his QKt to defend his QRP and setting a Rook on the half-open Q-file to take over the defence of his QP.
