White developed his KKt to attack Black's KP (tempting it forward) and support a possible 3.P-Q4.
Black develops his Queen's Knight to QB3(c6) and defends his king's pawn. The move is perhaps inferior to 2..P-K5 but takes (temporary) control of White's Q4(d4) square. B-Alt.
