Black's beset QKt5(b4) Bishop moves to QR4(a5), keeping a half-pin on White's QBP+QP to cramp his QKt. Most regard this as the best/safest way to meet the Evans (although the unambitious 5..B-K2 leading to the Cordel variant can also equalise). B-Alt.
