The Delayed (or Non-) Fianchetto Variation
White set his KKt to support his QP and control Black's K4(e5), perhaps to avoid blocking the centre for an attacking KB fianchetto of his own.
Black rarely delays ..B-Kt2 for an early QPawn attack on White's QBP (a Grunfeld Def. strategy to clear his eventual KB fianchetto's diagonal). B-Alt.
