Black's KP removed White's KBP (the usual reply).
White varies the KGA (the main continuation being 3.Kt-KB3), developing his King's Bishop early to QB4(c4) to create a further unprotected B+KP target for Black to attack. A sound move, but unpopular as it creates so many chances for Black. W-Alt.
