THE KERES DEFENCE

White's pawn to QB4(c4), reserving Kt-QB3, contested Q5(d5) to avoid the French Defence.
Black deploys an early King's Bishop to QKt5(b4) with check. A defence (aka. the Kangaroo) named after Estonian IGM and openings analyst Paul Keres (1916-75), although the move itself is much older. Often becomes a Bogoljubow Def. after exchange. B-Alt.
