Black's "Sicilian" QBP challenged for control of White's Q4(d4) square.
White's Queen's Knight's Pawn out to QKt3(b3) starts a Nimzowitsch Opening (a system where White plays 1.Kt-KB3, 2.P-QKt3 against any Black move except 1..P-K4). The move also implies he will fianchetto his QB for dark centre control. W-Alt.
