White advanced his king's pawn to an undefended K4(e4) to threaten a 4.P-K5 attack on White's KKt, but also freed his KB to attack Black's QKtP. Black's king's-side Knight on KB3(f6) removes the White king's pawn and effectively invites a pawn exchange, as his QKtPawn is en prise.
