(Sämisch Defence route)

White developed his KKt to double K5(e5) control and shield his KKtP+KR against ..B-Kt2, planning P-K3 or P-Q5.
Black pushes his King's Pawn out one square, frees his queen and KB and deters 4.P-Q5. The Queen's Indian Defence has four main approach lines (this "west-wing" defence being one).
