Black's KKt threatened White's KP to avoid the Vienna Gambit and contest Q4(d5) for 3..P-Q4.
White sets his King's Knight's Pawn on KKt3(g3), planning a king's bishop fianchetto so as to dominate the long (ie. central) light diagonal. A solid but less aggressive line, it can merge with Paulsen's. W-Alt.
