BOND FILMS with SEAN CONNERY

Here's a mnemonic means of recalling the order of appearance of the first five "official" James Bond films, together with the order of all seven of those starring Sean Connery:

THEY'RE ALPHA!
( Don't ForGeT whY )
and then
..FOREVER and NEVER..
..amen..

(1st) D - DOCTOR NO (1962)
(2nd) F - FROM RUSSIA WITH LOVE (1963)
(3rd) G - GOLDFINGER (1964)
(4th) T - THUNDERBALL (1965)
(5th) Y - YOU ONLY LIVE TWICE (1967)
  and then later
(7th) DIAMONDS ARE FOREVER (1971)
(---) NEVER SAY NEVER AGAIN (1983)

Sean Connery retired temporarily from the Bond films after the fifth in the series, whereupon George Lazenby took up the role for one film ("On Her Majesty's Secret Service" in 1969) before Connery returned to make "Diamonds Are Forever". Since then the Bond role has been taken up by Roger Moore (also in 7 films, 1973-85), Timothy Dalton (2 films, 1987-9) and Pierce Brosnan (3 films 1995-9). Bond was also played by David Niven in one unofficial Bond spoof, "Casino Royale" in 1967.

Surprisingly, Sean Connery returned after 12 years for one last (unofficial) Bond film in 1983 with "Never Say Never Again", effectively an independently produced and rescripted version of the earlier "Thunderball" film story.
