Here's an effective mnemonic by Peter Hobbs for recalling the seven deadly sins. Peter's method is to remember them in the plural as:

" WAGES (PL.) "

"For the wages of sin is death" (Romans VI,23)

(Wrath, Avarice, Gluttony, Envy, Sloth, Pride, Lust)

They are often listed in "PWELGAS" order (ie. pride, wrath, envy, lust, gluttony, avarice, sloth), but other interesting mnemonics of their initials are "LEG-PAWS, WASP-LEG, PAW-LEGS, and PEW-SLAG"!

Many listings substitute the words "anger" (for "wrath") and "greed" (for "avarice"). Avoid their use - greed is too easily confused with gluttony, and no-one's ever read a book called "The Grapes Of Anger"!
