White may develop his King's Knight to KB3(f3), but usually delays its deployment until after Black has committed himself to a definite pawn formation (ie. Q3+K4 or Stonewall Q4+K3 pawns) as the move denies White the option of a KB3+K4 pawn thrust. W-Alt.
