[ECO code C20] Move Move Here
THE INDIAN OPENING
White leaves the "Épine Dorsale" to (rarely) push his Queen's Pawn a single square in support of his KP. Popularised by Valentine Green (London tournament, 1862) after a stay in India in the mid-1800's, this opening may give equal chances but is rarely played as several alternative moves allow White greater initiatives.
