White advanced a rarely played QKtPawn to QKt4(b4), avoiding early occupation of the centre but planning to control it by indirect means.
Black rejects the invitation to take up the vacant centre and adopts a Dutch-style reply, advancing his King's Bishop's Pawn to deter 2.P-K4 with a later ..Kt-KB3 for strong control of K5(e4). B-Alt.
