White's QBP removed Black's QP on Q5(d5) early.
Black's K3(e6) Pawn removes the doubled QP on Q4(d5), unlocks his problem QB and deters 4.P-K4. Any alternative is inferior. A fixed centre (mutually blocked Ps after an exchange from adjoining files), also in the Saragossa by a trade-off on Q5(d4).
